Why Health Care for Big Diseases

With a population of more than 1.4 Billion in India, last-mile delivery of healthcare in our country is a big challenge. With more than 65% of the population residing in rural areas with a smaller share of the overall healthcare infrastructure, uneven distribution and lack of awareness limit to uptake the existing healthcare services.

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) mainly
• cardiovascular diseases
• diabetes
• cancers
• chronic respiratory diseases
Communicable diseases including
• HIV/AIDS
• tuberculosis (TB)
• viral hepatitis
• sexually transmitted infections
• Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) like leprosy
are the leading cause of death in India as well as worldwide. These major life threatening diseases are not addressed in rural areas that are leading cause of death. High proportion of deaths and suffering that they cause and hinder social and economic development among particularly marginalised communities and can pose significant threats to people health security in rural areas.

What We Do

SAFER address these life threatening diseases through comprehensive and community-based health programmes to the doorsteps of underserved rural communities by following a two prolonged approaches provide curative as well as preventive services, addressing the gap in availability, accessibility and affordability of healthcare.
