Women Empowerment

Poverty is deepest among marginalised groups like scheduled castes (dalits), tribals, families with disabilities, widow and families with girl children who are very poor in the rural areas. The rural people particularly women are migrating to nearby sub-urban and urban centres to seek employment opportunities for manual labour like construction work. Migration is affecting socio-cultural conditions of rural communities.
In the rural areas, women are unskilled, insufficiently educated and trained and uninformed about their privileges and opportunities. Most of the women are working as farm labourer in agriculture field with low wage. Agricultural sector have become more volatile and insecure in recent years and women farm workers have therefore been negatively affected.
Women are absorbed in the struggle to sustain their family physically and emotionally and suffer many disadvantages as compared to men in the areas of education, health care, labour participation and earnings.
Generally, the women in rural areas are marginalised and greater vulnerability because of lack of skills and education, poorer opportunities for work and income generating activities, unformed on privileges and opportunities, heavy responsibility in family, financial dependency and exclusion in family as well as community.
