Historically, India’s rural economy has been primarily based on agriculture and related activities, but with increasing population, decreasing land holdings, chronic poverty, illiteracy, lack of skills, lack of mechanization, lack of capital formation, flood and drought, poor agricultural marketing facilities, the dependency on primary livelihoods is at risk.
In this dire situation, distress migration takes place where the villagers especially youth and women is compelled to migrate to the cities in search of employment. Therefore, it is altogether imperative to find alternative livelihood models and strategies for achieving inclusive growth.
With the aiming of retaining migrants particularly youth and women from rural to urban centres and ensuring livelihood options at village itself and flourishing village economy, the SAFER is involved in skill development and livelihood Programme aim at imparting training to those in need, allowing them to stand on their own feet, and become financially stable. It empowers them to take charge of their own lives with dignity and determination. Skills trainings open the doors to opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives. Let's end this cycle of poverty through imparting knowledge and enabling families to lift themselves from their struggles.
